How Many People Died In Drunk Driving Accidents?

How Many People Died in Drunk Driving Accidents in 2018?

Approximately one person is killed every 50 minutes in a drunk driving accident in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 10,511 alcohol-related deaths in 2018. However, it is important to note that these numbers are estimated, so they do not represent real-world alcohol-related accidents. For example, the number of people killed in a drunk driving crash varies from state to state, and the fatality rate is also dependent on age.

There are more drunk driving fatalities among young drivers, especially those in the 16-24 age group. 2,000 college students die each year from alcohol-related injuries. During the Christmas holiday, there are nearly two-thirds more alcohol-related traffic crashes than on any other holiday. On New Year’s Day, there are 58% more drunk driving crashes than on any other holiday.

Drunk drivers also tend to be more reckless behind the wheel. A recent CDC survey found that 7% of male teens had admitted to driving with a drunk driver. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that almost one in five people arrested for DUI is under 21. In addition, more than 800 people are injured in drunk driving crash each day. The National Safety Council reported that over 10,000 drunk driving deaths were recorded between 2006 and 2016.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has analyzed more than 34,000 alcohol-related traffic crashes and reports that alcohol-impaired driving was responsible for more than 28% of all traffic fatalities in the United States. The data indicate that alcohol-related accidents are an ongoing problem that must be addressed. While the number of drunk driving fatalities has declined significantly over the past three decades, it is still a major cause of death. The agency estimates that nearly one million Americans were arrested for driving under the influence in 2018. In addition, impaired motorists with two or more felony convictions could be sentenced to 4.5 years in prison.

The NHTSA estimates that there will be 9,560 traffic deaths in the first quarter of 2022. While these numbers are lower than in the earlier part of the decade, this is still a very large number. The increase represents a seven percent increase over the first quarter of 2021. This is the highest number of fatalities in the first quarter since 2002.

The most dangerous holidays are the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s. Of the more than 17,000 people who have died on county roads since 2010, about 36% have been involved in a fatal alcohol-related crash. During the Fourth of July holiday period, about 812 people were killed in drunk driving crashes. During the Thanksgiving holiday, about 4,200 people were killed in alcohol-related accidents. In 2017, more than 115,000 people were killed in traffic accidents. During the Christmas holiday, about 140 people were killed in alcohol-related accidents.

There are many ways to avoid drinking and driving. You can use rideshare services, call a friend, or stay home. The best way to reduce the risk of getting into an accident is to plan.
